Internship at Logan Killen Interiors

Fall 2021-Spring 2022

210921 LKI STUDIO CONFERENCE ROOM CONCEP

During my internship at Logan Killen Interiors I had a variety of experiences that shaped my time here. I was given responsibilities that helped me understand real world design applications. Throughout my time here, I gained knowledge about creativity, design development, and interior design business practices, as well as, learning technical applications in programs such as Photoshop and InDesign. On days spent in the office, I created purchase orders for pillows, lamps, and other smaller items as well as helping maintain the materials library. I was also often tasked with ordering samples and coordinating with local reps/vendors to provide me with fabric pricing and availability. On smaller projects, I was allowed the opportunity to create design boards and expand my knowledge of Photoshop and conceptual design. I was tasked with consolidating items used in projects to create proposals that would later be used to invoice clients for the items they wanted to purchase. I was allowed to order items, log their purchase, and store them until the projects install date. I also participated in multiple project installations where I helped set the configuration of the space based on the design boards and attended to the smaller details that help make a project whole such as moving furniture, placing lightbulbs, and help hang art. My time with LKI has been an amazing and formative experience that has helped me grow as a young designer and I plan on taking the knowledge that gained here and expanding it so that I may apply it to my future endeavors. These projects were created using Photoshop, InDesign, & Adobe Acrobat.
